Gnawed Key

Gnawed Key is one of the most expensive items in Enter the Gungeon, but it is also one of the most interesting. Upon purchasing it, you can insert it into any chest until death.

It will then activate after you die, allowing you to come back to the floor with your previous gun and four bullets for it. The key can be used infinitely, so long as further purchases are made.

It allows you to use it infinitely until death, and then activate it after death if you purchase it again.

While you’re playing Ethengar, feeling on top of the world, you come across a chest with this key.

After inserting it into the keyhole, there’s a flash of light, and you realize you’ve been transported to the floor where you began your life as an adventurer.

It's clearly based on an old skeleton key, and seems to fit the shape of the locked door in the Black Powder Mine.

The locked door is just past the Bullet that Blows Up The World shopkeeper room.

Other Items: Duct Tape, Book of Chest Anatomy

Its purpose is to unlock the Hatch to the Resourceful Rat's Lair which can be accessed through either the first floor of the Breach or after defeating the Bullet Kin on the fourth floor of The Breach.

You can use this key to unlock the hatch to the Resourceful Rat's Lair, but there is no way to open it! Many people throw away these keys, but I'm here today to explain what happens if you throw one away and what happens if you use it in a blue chest.

Gnawed Key 101

This item unlocks the Secret Door, which leads to the Black Market. Completing this area will unlock the Bullet That Can Kill The Past, and allow you to earn extra Heart Containers and level up your weapons.

If you are attempting the past, the gnawed key will not spawn until you have done so. It is highly recommended that you do this in co-op since there are both physical and bullet upgrades in the past that will help out greatly.

As you progress through Enter the Gungeon you will encounter many different types of Keys. These keys will usually allow you to unlock various doors and advance the story.
